Galmont Consulting Rural Outsourcing Center Provides Bally Total Fitness with Economical Testing Alternative
Galmont CEO says: “Onshore facility creates new U.S. jobs in software quality assurance”
Chicago, IL (October 25, 2011) – Galmont Consulting, a technology firm specializing in software quality assurance, testing and business analysis services, announced today that testing on four new applications for Bally Total Fitness earned high marks and was completed at Galmont’s onshore center located in Lexington, Ky. The project is the 10th finished by the 18-month-old rural outsourcing team.
Galmont opened its rural testing center in July 2010 to offer U.S. businesses a strategic, cost-effective, onshore alternative to overseas software testing. Since then, the company hired 18 software engineers in Lexington and has landed numerous software quality assurance projects.
Bally hired Galmont in July 2011 to perform quality assurance testing on applications that club members now use at the fitness facilities for everything, from visualizing their body after weight loss, to ordering drinks by touch-pad. With these new applications, Bally’s members can:
- Visualize their future body if they stick to their workout goals and use a digital muscular model that shows exercises to strengthen muscle groups.
- Access class schedules and instructor bios with interactive schedule boards.
- Become a member faster than before with Bally’s iPad-based enrollment software.
Galmont’s work on the software included carefully designed specialized performance, stress and user interface (UI) tests for each application. Upon completion, Galmont engineers moved to Bally’s facilities to conduct end-to-end testing in the gym.
“Galmont’s talent and the testing processes in Lexington are very impressive. We felt the company’s rural outsourcing model not only presented an excellent price point with greater return, but also enabled us to keep jobs in the U.S.,” said Guy Thier, chief information officer, Bally Total Fitness. “We experienced extraordinary collaboration during the entire process with the result being flawless operations on all four applications in time for launch. We learned a great deal from Galmont’s best practices and disciplined testing and look forward to working with the company in the future.”
“In the 18 months since opening, our rural outsourcing center attracted high-caliber U.S. companies, including NYSE Euronext, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, U.S. Cellular and recently Bally Total Fitness because we offer a high-quality domestic solution that is competitively priced,” said Jeri Smith, president and founder, Galmont Consulting. “We are on track to hire 90 employees within four years of opening, and we are proud to do our part in creating new U.S jobs.”
When asked about the impact of the new facility, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear said, “In spite of a difficult economic climate, the Galmont Consulting testing facility in Lexington continues to thrive, provides new engineering jobs and is bringing a $1.3 million investment to our state. Galmont’s continued support of creating jobs is appreciated, and coincides with my administration’s commitment to economic growth in Kentucky.”
